--------------- Thu 14th. Feb 1991 ---------------
Series 126.
Program Changes:
The utilities now have a much faster self-test if
ThunderByte is active and will thus load and execute
much faster. (ThunderByte is a hardware anti-virus
device available from cALMER Utilities).
TODAY now recognises the first & last working day of any
month and any day of month, thus you can perform say
monthly backups automatically. A bug which removed
batch file labels in Series 125 has been eliminated.
NBY now has a seperate virus signature file. The
cALMER 1 BBS will always contain the latest upgrade
to this file. The latest version can be downloaded
free of charge from the BBS on 482-1716 (24 hours, N 8 1).
CCD had a bug which missed some directories containing
a full stop fixed.
F A S T - NBY can now be renamed to any name you wish.
BOOTPAST now has 10 different bootsector messages which
can be selected from the commandline, e.g. Bootpast a 6
would over-write the bootsector with message number 6.
The registered version allows editing of the messages.
LAZYBACK now allows to to add exception file specifications.
If you want to back an entire directory but to not want to
backup say *.BAK files, you can now specfy it as follows in
the data file:
~c:\word\docs\*.bak
ac:\word\docs\*.*
Note that the exception must be specified BEFORE the normal
files are specified.
It also has a bug eliminated which said that all files
packing was done if files needed packing and the program
was run from near the bottom of the screen.
CALMER (installation program) has a bug removed which
inserted the CA-STAT command after every line containing
ECHO in your autoexec.bat
--------------- Wed 2nd. Jan 1991 ---------------
Series 125.
Two new programs have been added to the Utilities.
F A S T - NBY: Scans entire hard disk(s) for any
changes, additions and deletions of COM, EXE, SYS
OVL, OVR, BAT files and reports accordingly. If
changes are found, this information is passed to
NBY for a thorough anti-viral test.
CCD: cALMER Change Directory program.
Uses the information generated by F A S T - NBY
to change to any directory on any drive, allows
partial directory name or FILENAME ! For example
if you do not remember where you have a program
called CHESS.EXE, simply key in CCD CHESS<Enter>
Changes to existing programs:
All programs have changed in two ways: The
Copyright now belongs to cALMER Utilities rather
than Calmer Software Services. (See CALMER.DOC)
The self-test (viral self test) has been speeded up
by about 90% and can no longer be disabled. The
procedure is the same as that used in F A S T - NBY
it simply checks the startup code and some specific
areas which are generally attacked by viruses.
NBY now has an interface to F A S T - NBY as well
as the recognition of the following new viruses
and their sub-strains: Carioca, Dot Killer, Keypress (A),
Keypress (B), Monxla, Music Bug, Taiwan 4 .
--------------- Thu 25th. Oct 1990 ---------------
Series 124.
NBY now recognises the latest set of new and nasty
viruses. All up, it checks for 234 different virus
strains.
BootPast. The registered version now allows you to
edit the message without the need of the message file.
First time you run it, the editor will appear on screen.
You can now test the message on the floppy without the
need to re-boot: Simply run bootpast again, the message
will be shown on screen. You then have the choice to
over-write the header or leave as is. This only works
with disks treated with Bootpast Version 2.00 or higher.
